It is with great regret and sadness that we announce the death of Mark Gibson, former chairman of the mini-junior section. Mark was instrumental in re-establishing mini-junior rugby at Rotherham and served as our chairman from the formation of the section in 2005 through to 2009.

Our sincere condolences go out to Mark's family and in particular to his son Jack who was a junior player with the club for 5 years.

The proposed development of training and playing facilities for the club on Herringthorpe Playing Fields is making progress. A detailed planning application has been submitted to Rotherham MBC so we are now another step closer to having the facilities we need as a club.

As part of the consultation process there will be an public drop in session at the rugby club on Monday 9th January between 11 am and 7pm.

It will also help our case with the council considerably if we can get as many people as possible to voice their support for the development - to do this visit the Rotherham MBC website at

We have been asked by the school to remind all of our members that dogs are not allowed on Wickersley School playing fields.

Rachel Jackson has stood down as Club safeguarding Officer to concentrate on her other club roles of Volunteer Co-ordinator and Team Manager for the Colts team. The executive committee would like to thank Rachel for her hard work and dedication during her time as Safeguarding Officer.

Carl Scholfield (pictured below) has agreed to take over the role of Club Safeguarding Officer with immediate effect. Bob Finch will continue to serve as Assistant Safeguarding Officer.
